Sony Pictures Imageworks 3D Stereo Production Masterclass

A two day intensive Masterclass on 3D Stereo Production offers up to 20 students and young professionals a hands-on training in the complete 3D Stereo workflow, covering shooting, editing, and modifying of stereo images. Corey B. Turner will share lessons learned from 8 stereoscopic productions, including "Alice in Wonderland", "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs", "G-Force", and "Beowulf". Attendees of FMX 2010 are invited to watch the proceedings and listen to Corey Turner’s advice!

Corey B. Turner recently served as the Stereographer for Tim Burton's "Alice In Wonderland" where he designed the 3D presentation of the film along with supervising the Stereoscopic Camera Team and the Stereoscopic Compositing Teams. Prior to working on Alice In Wonderland, Corey worked on"I am Legend" integrating performance capture data from actors on stage to create computer generated characters for the crowd scenes of the film. He also served as the Technical Animation Supervisor on Robert Zemeckis' "Beowulf". For this film he supervised the Performance Capture Tracking and Rough Integration Teams. In addition, he supervised the Director's Layout & Wheels process, as well as the Final Integration process, where he was responsible for working with the animation supervisor to finesse the performances and apply it to the CG characters and props. While at Imageworks, Corey served as a Lead Motion Capture Integrator for five sequences of the Academy Award Nominated "Monster House", and as Lead Performance Capture Integrator for eight sequences of "The Polar Express".

		Shooting will be done by the participants, using camera systems (including stereo still cameras) available from companies present on the FMX Trade Floor. Shooting will take place on the Trade Floor and/or open air. While the actual shooting will be done by the participants of the Master Class, attendees of FMX 2010 are invited to watch the proceedings and listen to Corey Turner’s advice, who will not only explain the technical aspects but also analyse and comment on the effects of stereo composition. 		Editing and modifying will be done by the participants under the supervision of Corey B. Turner. Next to the technical workflow, the main focus will be on altering stereoscopic parameters in postproduction and the artistic possibilities available through the manipulation of the stereo images. During this session, material recorded by the participants during Day 1 will be screened and reviewed. Again FMX 2010 attendees are invited to watch the proceedings.
