10:00 - 11:00 Reassuring Feedback, Behavior and Content Interface Design
Raum Karlsruhe Pedro Cardoso, Art Director, YDreams, www.ydreams.com
We’ve been working with physical and non-digital interfaces for some time now and have put a focus on analyzing behavior and using behavior itself to communicate. We’ve also learned to acquire, manage and share the knowledge that needs to be communicated. So we’re going through a process of convergence of these 3 beliefs.
With this as our framework we either interpret a user’s behavior and make the most out of it, turning it into a digital input and creating a more intuitive linkage with the content. Alternatively we take the physical content – typically an object, a building, even a person - which we insert in a digital context, creating a virtual reality shaped by the user’s behavior. These abstractions define the current purpose of interaction design, and this new approach gives new meaning to the atmosphere of space and consequently to the users experiences. Independently of how mind blowing the technology is - or the creative use we make with it - we must always focus on content and users.

Pedro Cardoso has been Art Director at YDreams since 2006. Prior to this he worked as a graphic design teacher, founded the Design Company Atelier Formas do Possivel and realized a two year long touristic project devoted to the promotion and investigation of Historical Portugese villages through a geographical information sytem, graphic design and photography. Since 1992 Pedro has been working as a photographer for a number of magazines. He holds a degree in Communication Design from the Universidade Clássica de Lisboa.

YDreams is a global company that is redefining the concept of interactivity. Over the last few years we have been paving the way for new tendencies in interaction technology and design by developing full-scale interactive environments and products. From our headquarters in Lisbon (Portugal) and our offices in Austin, Barcelona, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, we developped in the last 10 years more than 600 projects in 25 countries.

The talk will cover practical interaction design and the technologies that we use to deliver the exhibits, including a short look at libavg, the open source framework used and sponsored by Archimedes Solutions.

Ulrich von Zadow is Head of Software Development at Archimedes Solutions. He holds a Diploma in Computer Science and has more than a decade of experience in the field of interactive exhibits.

ArchiMeDes has been developing and building exhibitions for museums, science centers and enterprises since 1996, with some of the exhibitions reaching millions of visitors. Exhibits include face and gaze tracking and a virtual wind channel as well as several multitouch tables.

Kepler-Saal: Studio B Ene Katrine Rasmussen, Media Desk Denmark, www.mediadeskdenmark.eu
With the incremental convergence of media, we are seeing an increase in multi-platform content development. Yet developing and producing 360º Content is too complex and the projects often too large to be handled by one production company only. Thus there is a need to bring together players from the different sectors of the media industry – film, TV, games, mobile and internet – for a new kind of co-operation: the crossmedia co-production.

At the 360° Co-Production Market artist and producers present their crossmedia concepts to a high profile audience. Visitors are requested to register at the entry of the presentation room

Ene Katrine Rasmussen is the Head of MEDIA Desk Denmark and holds a Master degree in film studies from Copenhagen and Paris University 1993. In 1994-1995 she was employed as a programme manager at a local community TV-station (Vesterbro Lokal-TV). In 1996 she started working at the Danish Film Institute as a Production Coordinator at the Film Workshop. During her 8 years at the Film Workshop she was involved with a large number of film productions. Mostly shorts and documentaries, but also a few feature films and interactive productions. She also experienced organizing workshops and seminars. In 1999 she worked on an educational TV production for DR TV and in 2004 she worked 3 month at TV2 Sales. She's an EAVE graduate from 1997. Since February 2009 she has worked as head of the Danish MEDIA Desk advising producers on MEDIA funding, doing information work and organizing seminars on film financing, games and cross media.

As a result of the call for projects, six out of 20 submissions have been selected and will be presented by their teams:
