invaZion 2010, the second annual 3-D Short Film Challenge
Award Ceremony and stereoscopic winner films screening
3D artists, designers and film professionals all over the world are invited to create complete new films tailored to 3-D (i.e. 3D stereo) or transfer existing films into the extra dimension.
Creating stereoscopic movies means much more than “only” rendering a second camera view: used wisely, it can provide a complete new way of directing movies, like adding dramaturgy, modifying perceived size or volume and even the emotional proximity to the audience through depth. It also means thinking of the newly gained Z-space allready during the planning and production phase of your project.
Early 2010 a high class Hollywood jury with film and industry experts will closely evaluate the participants' productions in the categories "Stereoscopic Storytelling" and "Excellence in Visual Arts". The winners will be rewarded with valuable prizes and gain attention from stereoscopy lovers worldwide.
invaZion 2010 is a great opportunity for young film makers to gather experience with 3-D film production and post production. Stereoscopy is the trend of the future and invaZion fills this future with new content and talents.
Winners will be awarded in 3 Categories:
- Best overall film
- Best stereoscopic story telling
- Excellence in visual art

Hardly any film competition is more in tune with the current film and media Zeitgeist than the invaZion 2010 3D Short Film Challenge, hosted by more3D. Ambitious film fans and artists everywhere are called upon to showcase their short films in 3D to an illustrious star-studded jury. Prizes worth EUR 20,000 beckon the winners. 3D movies are the 'shooting stars' of the film industry right now. The fascination with 'being there' is box office gold and Germany's cinemas are getting ready for it - no multiplex cinema can afford to be without at least one 3D-enabled cinema theatre. For this reason more3D has once again called for the production of 3D short films worldwide. The all star Hollywood jury panel is made up of representatives from Dreamworks Animation SKG, Imagemovers Digital, Pixar Animation Studios, Sony Pictures Imageworks, Walt Disney Animation Studios and others. The lucky winners will be presented at the FMX 2010, the 15th Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive Media in Stuttgart/Germany. Prizes are awarded in the categories of 'Excellence in Visual Arts' for artistic merit and 'Stereoscopic Storytelling' for particularly apt use of 3D scope in the storyline. A 'Best Overall' winner will be selected for the best short film overall.
