FMX 2017 - Newsletter #1: FMX postcards from SIGGRAPH

The FMX team travels to SIGGRAPH, the Longing for Wilderness booth tags along - and our recorded sessions.

Seasons change as do conference themes: While you're busy pumping up your inflatable island for the next beach visit, the FMX team is already in the midst of composing next year's program, sipping office coffee like water. A substantial part of the program acquisition takes place abroad - that's why part of the team is travelling to SIGGRAPH this week to find even more inspiration in Anaheim. We cannot wait to meet you there, sunglasses at the ready!

Where to find us in Anaheim

While the FMX team will be out and about, sometimes taking a pit stop at the FMX booth at SIGGRAPH village, there's even more team presence this year: the Institute of Animation, the organizer of FMX, presents the VR project Longing for Wilderness at SIGGRAPH. Longing for Wilderness was created by alumnus Marc Zimmermann as the first project of the Institute's VR initiative and allows users to experience an immersive journey from the heart of a city to the vastness of nature. You find the Longing for Wilderness booth at the VR Storylab (part of the VR Village). Drop by to travel further!

Food for FMX fandom - Our recorded sessions

For the first time ever, we have permanently made available recorded sessions from this year's FMX. It's a selection of fine content from tracks such as Virtual Humans, Directing & Designing for VR, Game Cinematics, Wild & Strange or Hack Art and speakers such as James Cunningham, Stuart Aitken (Halo 5) or Nick Whiting (Bullet Train). Check out our Youtube channel to see which talk you'd like to revisit.

And now go and enjoy those summer dreams, always keeping the magic date in mind:
May 2-5, 2017 - that's when you come to Stuttgart, to FMX!

FMX is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the City of Stuttgart and the MFG Film Funding, taking place in cooperation with VES Visual Effects Society, ACM SIGGRAPH and the World Building Institute. FMX is an event by the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, organized by Animationsinstitut, hosting the Animation Production Day (APD), a joint venture with the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (ITFS).
