Cheryl Boone Isaacs, President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, joins FMX
FMX is pleased to announce that Cheryl Boone Isaacs, the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which hosts the annual Oscars ceremony, will be participating in a keynote interview at FMX 2017. Her participation in FMX is of great relevance, since Isaacs has been instrumental in moving the Academy, as well as the movie industry at large, in the direction of greater inclusion.
Isaacs will join FMX for a keynote interview with Eric Roth, the Executive Director of the Visual Effects Society. The interview is part of the "Studio Insights" track that provides a safe forum for executives to share their perspective on digital entertainment, focusing on production, changing business models and new forms of content creation. Isaacs will spotlight the Academy's role in the digital and societal transformation of the film industry.

FMX 2017 will be the showground for 285 events that will be presented by more than 300 speakers from every corner of the world - from the UK, Hungary, Japan and Australia, just to name a few. The list of program highlights is extensive, including VFX presentations on visually stunning movies such as Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Star Wars: Rogue One and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (don't miss the special showing of the latter!), a track dedicated to virtual production in movies like Warcraft, Logan, Deepwater Horizon and Ghost in the Shell, and lots of content on animation - from Smurfs: The Lost Village through Vaiana to indie movies like the Oscar-nominated Blind Vaysha by Theodore Ushev and Pear Cider and Cigarettes by Robert Valley. FMX will also host its first series of talks on Automotive that will feature thrilling presentations from The Mill BLACKBIRD® by The Mill and Epic Games through Cars 3 to fascinating VR experiences that were created for Audi and Jaguar. VFX Supervisor Volker Engel (Uncharted Territory) is going to dive into the details of Independence Day: Resurgence while also revealing secrets of the original Independence Day. Renowned Aardman Animations studio co-founder, director, producer and writer Peter Lord will join FMX for the very first time and will get together with IndieWire's Bill Desowitz for an interview.
The FMX Forum - get to know the global industry up close!
The Forum is just as international as the Conference program, welcoming exhibitors, speakers and schools from almost 20 different countries such as Belgium, Bulgaria, USA, Germany and New Zealand. We count ourselves very lucky to have that many amazing companies on board at FMX 2017 - the Marketplace is sold out as well as the Recruiting Hub and School Campus. The audience will have the opportunity to enjoy a total of five Company Suites by Autodesk, Isotropix, SideFX, Foundry and the Walt Disney Animation Studios.
At the Marketplace 28 companies showcase their latest products and services - among them the FMX newbies Dynamixyz, Graphine Software, Persistant Studios - Popcorn FX, Rokoko, Ranch Computing and Sztaki. Furthermore, the visitors can choose between 35 workshops by 19 companies such as Binary Alchemy, Esri, Project Myron, Sohonet and Solid Angle. At the School Campus 20 film and media schools will present themselves with their curricula, employees and alumni, whereas 28 renowned companies will look for young talent at the Recruiting Hub.
