Fiona Walkinshaw, Global Joint Managing Director, Film, Framestore

Fiona has been instrumental in Framestore’s development from a world-renowned commercials facility to an award-winning film VFX house.

As VFX Producer she worked on a huge variety of productions including Gulliver’s Travels, Dinotopia, and the VFX work on James Bond’s Tomorrow Never Dies. Fiona was appointed Director of VFX in 2002, to lead Framestore’s Film division, and took overall responsibility for the company’s successful expansion to undertake Troy, Thunderbirds, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Fiona has been key in developing the company into an internationally recognised, Oscar-winning film VFX house. She was Executive Producer on Gravity, one of Framestore's most complex projects to date. In 2013 Matt Fox joined her in becoming Joint Managing Director, Film, with Fiona continuing to focus on securing new business whilst overseeing film development, tests, bids and long term strategy.

As the cornerstone of the senior management team, she evaluates and drives all the company’s strategic and new business initiatives. Fiona’s influence and responsibilities span every sphere of the company. She is constantly looking to improve the high quality of service and strives to keep the company at the forefront of the VFX industry.

FMX is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the City of Stuttgart and the MFG Film Funding, taking place in cooperation with VES Visual Effects Society, ACM SIGGRAPH and the World Building Institute, supported by Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart (AMCRS), AMD, AutodeskBackstage, Epic Games and Mackevision. FMX is an event by the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, organized by the Animationsinstitut, hosting the Animation Production Day (APD), a joint venture with the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (ITFS).
