Patrick Hanenberger, Production Designer & World Builder, THE NEULAND

Patrick was born in Melbourne Australia and raised in Wiesbaden, Germany. The first thing he can remember drawing where eyepatches on his Playmobil figures and giant space battles. After he decided to get serious about his art career he moved to the US where he earned a B.A. in Industrial & Graphic Design at the University of Michigan and a B.S. in Transportation Design at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. During his college years he was fortunate to complete an internship at Pixar animation studios. His first design job after college was for the Lego Company as a concept artist. After Lego, Patrick joined DreamWorks Animation. During his 9 years at DreamWorks Patrick worked as a visual development artist on 7 features and as the Production Designer on “Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space” and “Rise of the Guardians”. After Dreamworks Patrick worked as a Visual Consultant for Microsoft/Crytek’s “Ryse Son of Rome”. He is the Co-Author of the book “Kolonie the Forgotten Empire” and the co-founder of “The Neuland” a transmedia design consultancy. Some of The Neuland’s recent clients include Legendary, IDEO, ReelFX and Google. Patrick currently works as the Production Designer on “The Lego Movie Sequel” for Animallogic and Warner Animation Group.

FMX is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the City of Stuttgart and the MFG Film Funding, taking place in cooperation with VES Visual Effects Society, ACM SIGGRAPH and the World Building Institute, supported by Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart (AMCRS), AMD, AutodeskBackstage, Epic Games and Mackevision. FMX is an event by the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, organized by the Animationsinstitut, hosting the Animation Production Day (APD), a joint venture with the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (ITFS).
