Tomasz Bednarz, Director of Visualisation, EPICentre UNSW Art & Design/ Team Leader in Visual Analytics, CSIRO Data61

Tomasz Bednarz is an A/Professor and Director of Visualisation at the Expanded Perception & Interaction Centre (EPICentre, epicentre.matters.today) UNSW Art & Design and Team Leader at CSIRO Data61 (leading Visual Analytics Team, in Software & Computational Systems program).

His current roles reflect his conviction to a holistic approach to the wicked problems facing the collation, analytics and display of big data. His approach is expansive and encompasses the use of novel technologies (AR, VR, CAVE, Dome, AVIE), often in combination. Over the last couple of years, he has been involved in wide range of projects in area of immersive visualisation, human-computer interaction, computational imaging, visualisation, and simulations, computer graphics, and games.

He also holds Adjunct positions at the Queensland University of Technology (Science and Engineering Faculty, School of Mathematical Sciences), University of Sydney (Faculty of Architecture, Design and Planning - Design Lab), University of South Australia (School of IT and Math Sciences).

He will be Chair of SIGGRAPH Asia 2019.

FMX is funded by the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts and the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg, the City of Stuttgart and the MFG Film Funding, taking place in cooperation with VES Visual Effects Society, ACM SIGGRAPH and the World Building Institute, supported by Animation Media Cluster Region Stuttgart (AMCRS), AMD, AutodeskBackstage, Epic Games and Mackevision. FMX is an event by the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg, organized by the Animationsinstitut, hosting the Animation Production Day (APD), a joint venture with the Festival of Animated Film Stuttgart (ITFS).
